Outreach International, Allen and Betty Pierce, PO Box 2509, Hillsboro, MO 63050 October 2011 Update
But--"When God our Savior revealed His kindness and love, He saved us not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. Because of His grace He declared us righteous and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life." Titus 3:4-7
As we read these words we are reminded that is because of His mercy that we will inherit eternal life. Why me Lord, when so many have not yet not heard these words? We praise the Lord for His mercy and for using both you and us to share these words of hope in areas of the world unreached by the only hope for eternal life!
Betty: I have returned safely from Venezuela. Thank you for your prayers! The trip was very productive, in that I was able to gather much needed information for Outreach International about the Venezuelan missionary working there. I worked alongside Elizabeth, seeing her work first hand in the city of Caracas among a ladies group, bible studies in a rehabilitation center, street evangelism, and home group bible studies. In the city of Barancas, we spent several days working among the Warao people. And even though I was mostly there to observe, I had several opportunities to share with individuals and groups about the work of Outreach International and the need for missionaries. The highlight of the trip was the literacy work among the Warao children, what a joy to see them reading and how happy they were to be able to do this! Allen: The first week Betty was in Venezuela, we had several forest fires around our home in the East Texas area. I was able to assist the local fireman a little, and we are all thankful no homes were damaged nor was anyone hurt. I then traveled to Arizona with a mission team. We made repairs at a church, a Native American mission, and a youth camp. The highlight for me though was the interaction with the other men, as we interacted with people along the way, and some door-to-door ministry sharing Christ as we were able.
As soon as we both returned home, we unpacked and repacked for a trip to Vidalia, Louisiana, speaking in one of our supporting churches, Cornerstone. It was great to see everyone there and to report on the work in Equatorial Guinea, as well as speaking about the need to reach the unreached people groups around the world.
Ministry Opportunities -We have both had the opportunity to work with Bridges International, an outreach ministry to International students at Stephen F. Austin State University, in Nacogdoches. -Betty continues to lead a women's Bible Study at our church. While Allen has started leading an Evangelism class. -We will have guests from Waxahachie this weekend, October 7th. We love hosting people and having friends to visit with, so please call us and plan a time when you can come! -On October 16th, we will have the opportunity to speak at Waxahachie Bible Church for their Missions service. -Allen plans to leave Oct. 20th for Equatorial Guinea, so we are busy finishing up the typing, exegetical checks, and revisions for the books of 1 and 2 Thessalonians and Hebrews.
Prayer requests- -Samuel: Continued good health and focus to finish the translation work needed before Allen arrives in EG. -Valeriana (Samuel's wife): Relief for pain from Fibroid cysts and wisdom for the doctor treating her. -Allen: For safe travel to Equatorial Guinea. For wisdom and success as he and Samuel work to do the best job possible on the translation.
Note of praise: After this session in Equatorial Guinea, approximately 72% of the New Testament will be available to read in Fang. Another 12% has been drafted waiting further checking, while a mere 16% remains to be drafted.
Because of Jesus! Allen and Betty
